Joshy is 5.5months old now

He's doing wonderful. He's been on a fast track with solid as he loves them and is one hungry boy. If I can remember them all now he's had applesauce, banana, peaches, prunes, green beans, peas, squash, sweet potato, and rice cereal (I hope I got them all) and there isn't a one he's hasn't liked. The peas we're doing now and it's tough finding them in 1st foods so I gave him the 2nd foods and he loves it. He like Joey loves the food in a thicker consistency. He won't even touch watery cereal unless it's in a bottle which I don't like to do now that he's taking food off a spoon so well.

~He doesn't stay where you put him unless he's content.
~He's been holding his own bottle for about 4 weeks now and over the past 2 weeks he can not only hold the bottle but remove it from his mouth and put it back in again!
~He can do that with his Nuk-ee too and plays with it probably as much as he actually sucks on it.
~He's got his chest fully off the ground when he's on his tummy.
~He's got a wonderful little personality but man oh man I think he's going to be a trouble maker :) In the car he will start making noises and get Joey all riled up! LOL It's so funny. He's going to be a leader I think. But he's got a temper too and when he's pissed he grabs at his ear. I'm afraid he's going to rip his ear off one of these days. He did draw blood once!
~He loves to be held but is doing good on his own now too
~He is a little cuddlier. I love cuddling with him and when Joey comes up to join us too!
~He sleeps through the night most of the time. On occasion he will wake up due to an over wet diaper which soaks his clothes but other than that he sleeps through.
~He goes to bed nicely, awake, on his own. I don't have to rock him or anything like that which is great. Both boys are wonderful sleepers, if only mommy could take advantage of that!! :)
~He's starting to turn into you for kisses!
~He's got a great little belly laugh but you got it work it out of him, it's not "free for the taking"

Thanks about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Oh, that toofie that popped through right after he turned 5mos? Yeah the one in the pictures below? It disappeared!! The skin grew back over it and it's been gone since about 2 days after I found it. It's just now starting to show itself but still skin over it so you can see but not feel it. So very weird!! LOL

We're on the News!!!

I posted this on Joey's side as well but just in case :)

Today Jim had reserves but it was unlike his typical drill weekend. We, Jim the kids and I, were to be at the War Memorial in downtown Milwaukee for a welcome, an official welcome home. Jim's been home from Iraq for 3+yrs now but never has the battalion said "Thank You" to him, his fellow troops or the families until today!
It was a nice little ceremony with a LOT of soldiers to thank and recognize for their time spent in Iraq, Kuwait, Afgainistan and other parts of the world in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
I sat in the right spot for once and had the local news standing right in front of me! Because my babies are so dang adorable they caught the attention of the reporter and her camera-woman and lots of camera time was spent on the boys. After all the awards were presented and the ceremony was over the reporter asked if she could interview us, I said yes, I was so psyched!! I've never been on TV or anything like that before. So we interviewed and here is the link to the video that was broadcast! All four of us were on and mentioned by name. I'm really excited that they spelled my name right, helps that they recorded ME spelling it for them I guess!! LOL So here's the link, I don't know how long it will be good for. I have a copy on DVD from my DVD recorder but I can't get it to work on my computer for some reason. I wrote to the TV station and asked if they would get me a copy so we'll see what they say.

Joshy is 5 mos old!

My baby is 5 months old now. Wow! That's all I can say. I mean just 2 weeks ago my big boy turned 2 years old and now my baby is almost a half a year old. Amazing!!
Joshy has had a lot going on. Turns out that apparently he has a milk protein allergy so he's not Nutramigen formula (dang that stuff is expensive, there ought to be a law!) Since finding this out he's like a whole new baby. He's happier and I'm not having to change my and his clothes 10x a day! LOL He's gaining weight really well now. My breastmilk isn't doing much if anything for him but I'm still trying to give him something even if it's just the DHA, ARA and immunities. However, he prefers bottles so he's fighting me tooth and nail! :( Makes me sad :(
He is finally taking to solids!! I've been trying solids off and on since he was 13weeks old but he wasn't interested at all. He didn't open his mouth and if he was the least bit hungry then he wanted bottle not spoon! Now he's loving it. He's had Rice cereal, sweet potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, and prunes. No allergies to any of that that I can tell so far.
He is a laugher and loves to laugh. I so love those belly laughs out of a baby. I still remember Joey's as well. He's a great smiler too but he has to be stimulated to smile for pictures for some reason.
He is good, not excellent but good at taking his Nuk out of his mouth and getting it back in again.
He's a great sleeper both for naps and nighttime. There are times when he wakes in the middle of the night but it's 99% of the time a soaked leaking diaper. Man this kid can pee like you wouldn't believe. He is down for the night around 7-8pm and up at around 7-8am. Pure heaven! He's weird about sleep too, he has to be swaddled and a blanket over his eyes. I guess he loves the dark??
He hates to have his nails cut but love to take a bath!
He loves to help hold his bottle and is getting better at it all the time
Loves his deluxe Jumparoo, bouncy seat, bumbo and swing.
He's holding his chest off the ground well when on his tummy
Can grasp objects like a toy and bring it to his mouth
Loves his feet
Adores his big brother. Oh his face just lights up when Joey is trying to entertain him! It's so wonderful
at 5mos 1 day old, he broke the skin for his first toofie! Today (5m2d) you can see the tooth really well!! He beat his brother by a week-10day on the first tooth!
He's pretty demanding and not very patient. I'm surprised that as a 2nd child he would have learned more patients by now but maybe 2nd kids have to cry longer and harder to be heard??
He loves his mommy. He hates to be left in a room (when he's awake) and not be able to see me. He's a little cuddle puss too!
AT his 4month pediatrician appointment he was given a clean bill of health. His measurements were as follows:
13lbs 15oz----25%
25" long----80%
16 1/4" head-----25%
So he's getting big fast!! :)

Sleeping through the night .....

in his crib by himself .... from 7pm until 4:30am!!!

It was great, I got so much of the house picked up and time to myself since daddy is gone all weekend. Though I was nervous there for a bit and had to go check on him (in spite of the monitor camera we have) and make sure he was A-OK. He did squirm his way from one end of the crib up against the side rail that comes down to the opposite end of the crib up against the "head" rail so he managed to turn perpendicular to the way I put him down!

I brought him back into the bed with me and he slept more while nursing for another 3.5 hrs!

I am very very blessed to have such good sleepers!!!

My squirm'N Worm'N

May 9th, Auntie Tiffany and Kasia were here for lunch. I put Joshy in his carseat while I made us all lunch and put the carseat up on the couch so the little kids wouldn't disturb Joshy. I get the kids plates all ready and Auntie Tiffany is going to take them into the living room where we have a picnic area all set up. She turns around to walk out of the kitchen and says "Miki, look at what your son did, hurry before I rescue him." Which son, I ask...Joshy... I look at Josh who has managed to flip himself over on his belly and is half out of the car seat! It's like he was climbing down and knows to go on his belly to crawl down! LOL

Good thing mommy put the carseat such that had he fallen out of it he would have landed on the couch and not a big fall down to the floor!

Then last night I again put him in the carseat while I'm straightening out the boys bedrooms. Joshy was in Joeys room with us at first then I took him out to the living room (on the floor) while I was putting clean clothes away in his room. He's fussing a bit, not horrible and I hurry to finish and go get him. I walk over to him and what do I find? Yep you guessed it, Joshy is laying on the floor completely out of the car seat! I didn't even hear him land! LOL

So moral of the story, no more leaving Joshy unbuckled ever again, he's to squirmy for that!!!

More solids

Joshy did very well with those Carrots and ate them successfully for 6 days. Then on May 5th while we were at Uncle Chad's house for cousin Jacob's 7th birthday, Joshy tried green beans! He did ok with those too but mommy has been busy busy busy and hasn't done them again since! :( Once things have settled down I'll get back to doing solids. Good thing he doesn't NEED them or I'd be in big trouble! LOL

First solids

Well the pictures are out of order but you'll get it! LOL

Mmmmm mommy, I like these carrots!
Oh that was so good, I'm full, thanks.
my fist tastes even better with carrot on it
ohhhhh carrots.....
whacha doing mommy, I'm naked except for a bib and diaper..what's going on?
my first bite of carrots, what are carrots?
Opening up wide, these aren't bad mommy!

LOL.....Now that I've got my little guy gaining weight I decided to start some solids with him. Joey was 12 weeks when he started and now Joshy is 13 weeks! Last night we gave carrots a try. Why carrots you ask? Well because of some things I've read and thinking I've done I decided to start out on veggies and then fruits and then cereals. I guess it's because I said so! LOL It's mommy's choice :)

Joshua James

I made my first blog for my first born Joey. A short while later we conceived Joshua and I started adding on things about my pregnancy and the baby (Joshy) to Joey's blog. But now that Joshy is 3 months old I think it's time he has his own space so neither boy gets lost in the mix :) I just hope I can keep up with 2 blogs, one is hard enough! LOL

So here I have you Joshy's blog and don't forget to check out Joey's blog as well!
